Hitting the festival circuit this summer but dreading the thought of going without your GHDs? Worried you’ll be looking more Shaun Ryder than Kate Moss? Fear not – the Vanity Van is on hand!
The Vanity Van is a mobile hair and beauty salon offering a whole host of hair, beauty and pamper services from Rebel nails nail wraps to He-Shi tanning, from celebrity-inspired make-overs and beautiful face and body art to full body massages and –ouch– even waxing!
On a budget or in a hurry? You can use the Vanity Van facilities for a DIY hair wash or the use of our hairdryers and straighteners. Or for something a little more glamorous, book in for a curling or up-do for your night out from one of our professional hair stylists.
There’s a huge selection of beauty goodies to choose from, such as Paul Mitchell luxury hair care products and award-winning Barry M make-up.
At some of the festivals Vanity Van is also offering a welly customisation service to make sure your footwear is as glamorous as you are – think diamantes and feathers!
Vanity Van’s most famous fan, Radio One’s Jo Whiley, treated herself to some Scissor Sisters-inspired body art at Glastonbury last year and was so pleased with the results that she brought celebrity pal Marina Lambrini Diamandis (better known by her stage name Marina and the Diamonds) along for a glitter make-over. (Listen to the audio clip of Jo interviewing Vanity Van customers and Marina live on Radio One.)
What’s more, there will be free samples and money-off voucher giveaways.
We have also teamed up with Virtual Festivals, the leading online festival destination www.virtualfestivals.com, to work backstage and they will be recording fan and artist experiences. Steve Wild COO of VF says ‘Vanity Van is really setting the pace for giving festival goers a better festival experience and so they are a perfect partner for us to work with’.
You can pre-book a Vanity Van treatment before you even leave home by visiting the website where you will find full event listings, price lists and a booking form.
This year Vanity Van will have a public mobile salon at the Isle of Wight festival, Glastonbury, Wakestock, V festival, Rewind and Creamfields, and will be treating the stars back stage at Radio Ones Big Weekend, Rockness and Beach Break Live to name a few. More festival dates announced soon, so keep an eye on the Vanity Van website: www.vanityvan.co.uk

Notes to editors:
1) Biggest high of the weekend was being asked to massage the fabulous Lady Gaga! Her set was amazing and we hope our therapists skilled hands helped before she put on these fabulous boots!

2) Being interviewed live on BBC 3 and Radio One extra – we love Gemma Cairney and loved the fact she roped Twin B into having a face paint – we think he looked fab!

3) Our lovely customers – we did more face and body arts this weekend than you could shake a stick at!

4) The twin zebras – don’t they look cute…

5) The fabulous Fearne Cotton who was loving our Rebel Nail wraps she was such a lovely person

6) Meeting the gorgeous Vernon Kay – he had the most wonderful tan we were most jealous…
7) The Tinie Tempah team – these girls were so much fun and roped in Miss Dynamite on the Rebel Nails action!

8) The lady in a cat hat who asked to be painted as a cat – liking her style!

9) Our wonderful friends from Belfast the Oxygen Bar

loving their masks – we hear Fearne Cotton was sporting a fetching one of herself on the back of her head back stage. The Keith Lemon ones were flying out of the stall. Heres the girls in the Jedward ones = freaky…

10) The little girl who persuaded her auntie she had to be a tiger….hilarious!

11) Swedish House Mafia who tore the roof of the In new music we trust stage

12) When they opened the gates on Sunday and the rain was pelting down everyone legged it in through the gates straight into the main arena. Tim Westwood on the outdoor stage started hollering things at them “your going the wrong way” “this is where the parties at” etc.. funniest start to day ever!

13) Our next door neighbour – the funniest guy in the world a world class drag queen by all accounts and a Lady Gaga impersonator who kept dragging the world and his dog onto our other neighbours dance floor

Here they are doing the YMCA !

Lows
1) The horrendous weather !!! Wind, rain and general miserableness – however as always we didn’t let this dampen our spirits

2) The journey home which felt about three times as long as the journey there...
3) Spending 2 hours trying to get the Bar B Q going for our staff only for the heavens to open and put the thing straight out again…
4) Finding out I had missed the Arctic monkeys had played as the secret guest a day after it happened (massively massively gutted – very sad face..)
5) The demise of the staff tent which simply couldn’t cope with what Cumbria’s skys had to offer – long may it rest in peace…
Radio One thank you for an amazing experience cannot wait to see what you pull out of the bag for next year !
